They would shave so that the photographer did not have to photo shop the hair from the pubic area and eliminate the vagina area for still photographs. In the 1950's they were not allowed to show the pubic area at all. If you see pubic hair and vaginas they would be private pictures taken by Photo Clubs.

Yes she is. Can you read her lips when she got in the pool? That is why it is called the Ice pool. LOL
